In order for you to understand who I am, it is important for you to know where I came from. When I was 17 years old, I found out I was pregnant. Being right in the middle of my senior year, it completely changed my college plans and my future. Let me tell you, it is one of the scariest things that can happen to a young adult. I was told to consider adoption, abortion, and neither one felt right to me. It was not my baby’s fault and I was determined to provide him with the best life possible.

I have since also married my son Ross’ father (one of my biggest supporters!) and we now have a daughter, Zoey, who is my mini me. I bought my first DSLR camera in 2010, after I finished my first year as a nurse. I mainly used it to take pictures of my children and in April, 2014, I took a class held by a local photographer to learn how to really use my camera. I was approached by many of my coworkers to photograph their families, which led me to where I am today. I have taken several workshops, including ones by Meg Bitton and Stephanie Knowles (Jaiden Photography) and am constantly trying to learn so that your session is perfection.

My ultimate ambition is to become a nurse midwife because I want to be the person my labor and delivery nurse was to me for others. All women should have the birth they desire, no matter their age, race, or financial status. In order to do this, my schedule has to be more flexible, and so I decided to be a nurse part time and a photographer part time so that I can go back to school, while not sacrificing time with my family. My family is the most important thing to me; without their support, I wouldn’t be who I am to my clients.

I hope you enjoyed my story and I cannot wait to hear yours!

Some random details about me: I love sweets, lipstick, and watching cooking competitions even though I cannot cook, and I have an awesome sister and brother-in-law. I’m a closet crafter and cannot be trusted with a key to save my life. You will probably run into me at Target or Sephora (both of which I frequent at least weekly).
